St Mark's Parish Pastoral Council

St Mark's Over 50's Club
This club has been operating for over 25 years and was initially the idea of Fr Frank O'Dea.  The club meets every Friday morning at 10 am to play Bingo and currently has about 25 members.  Bus trips are occasionally organized.

New members would be most welcome.  Anglican and Uniting Church ladies attend the club - St Mark's Over 50's is leading the way to Christian Unity!! Phone Marie Merrick on 3372 5646 for more details.

Finance Group
The Finance Group meets several times a year with Fr Tuong to oversee the parish finances.

Hospitality Group

The Hospitality group offers catering for funerals of parishioners, as well as for big parish events and celebrations.  If you would like to be a part of this ministry please contact the parish office.

St Vincent de Paul, Inala Conference

St Vincent de Paul Society in Inala is represented in two ways. 

Firstly there is the Inala Support Centre at 131 Inala Ave, Inala which operates Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. 

There is also a St Mark's Conference who assisted 10 families during September 2007.

Conference Leader is Heather Green 3714 9920 and new members are always welcome.

St Vincent de Paul also run a Piety Stall at the back of the church. 

Donations can also be placed in the Poor Boxes outside the Church. The Piety Stall is open Saturday night and Sunday morning.
St Mark's Indoor Bowls Club
Indoor bowls has been played at the parish hall on Thursday nights for the last 25 years!  Evenings begin at 7.15 pm, and the ages of the bowlers range from early teens to senior citizens.  The night is mainly about having fun, although for the more serious bowler there are competitions held against other church clubs throughout the year.  For only $3 a week, you can enjoy a game of bowls, have supper, a chance to win the weekly lucky door prize and an annual Christmas party.  New players would be made very welcome. Samoan Community.
The St Mark's Samoan Community provides a choir that sings at Mass on a regular basis, and organizes activities for Samoan youth.  Fr Epati Tamati provides Mass in the Samoan language at various churches throughout Brisbane.

St Mark's Parish Choir
is a leading example of cultural diversity in a parish church choir.  The parish is blessed to have a number of Vietnamese Choirs, a Samoan Choir, a Youth for Christ Choir (comprising mainly young singers from the Filipino Community), a Children's Choir (the children of St Mark's Primary school led by the APRE Garry Montgomery) and the newly formed Tongan choir. Care & Concern Groups offer practical help on a short term basis to people in need. Ideally, a Care & Concern group would have people from all parts of the parish - Inala / Richlands / Durack / Forest Lake / Doolandella.

Care & Concern Groups

The parish has commissioned the Pastoral Team  and the members of the Parish Care & Concern Group at Sunday 9.30 am Mass on the 7th of October 2007. 

There is a book at the back of the church where parishioners can request for themselves (or others) services from the Care & Concern Group such as transport, visitation and light housework.

Parish Youth Group
After the WYD08, St Mark's has established a Youth Group. The objectives of the parish youth group have been suggested by Fr Vudinh Tuong. The group is to:

- Help the youth learn more about faith
- Create a healthy environment for young people
- Foster good friendships and supporting peers group for each individual to the growth to his/her potential
- Prepare to be ready for the society and the local Church

Parish base provides good facility to ensure these objectives are achieved.

The Committee members are:
Tam Hoang, Yen Ho, Trung Ho, Rizcel Gagawanan, Vincent Hoang and Justin Vu.
